PIZZA ROLLS

Here's my new recipe. Rick's brother is coming out today for a whirlwind couple of days of guy fishing. I made pizza rolls for them to take out on the boats for quick and easy lunches as they land tons of fish to fill my freezer. :)

Pizza Rolls

Description: I came up with this recipe today. Wow! I made them to freeze and throw in school lunches, but they were so good we ate them all for dinner! I used a double batch of the dough and it filled a big cookie sheet.

Ingredients:
Bread dough ("Cheesey Breadsticks") :
1 c. warm milk
2 3/4 c. flour (whole wheat, white or a mix of both)
3 T sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 T yeast
2 T butter

Pizza toppings (Use what you want):
spaghetti sauce
pepperoni, chopped
sausage or hamburger
onions, diced
cheddar cheese, grated

Directions:Mix up the dough in a bread machine or by hand.

By hand: Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Soften butter and add. Gradually stir in flour and salt until all flour is added. Turn dough out on a slightly floured surface and knead until smooth and satiny.

Roll out dough into a big rectangle, just like you would for cinnamon rolls about 1/4-3/8 inch thick. Spread thinly with spaghetti sauce, top with desired toppings. It doesn't take much cheese to make it delicious, save the calories and go sparingly! Fold the long edge of the dough over about 1-1/2 to 2 inches and then continue rolling till it's all rolled up. Use thread to cut about 1 inch slices and place on greased cookie sheet (or WAY easier, cover the cookie sheet with Reynolds Release Wrap). They can just touch. Let rise about 15 minutes. Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes. MMMMMMMMM!

The dough is a recipe called "Cheesey Bread Sticks". If you want the best breadsticks in the world, follow the bread recipe, roll into a big rectangle, cut into thin strips with a pizza cutter and twist as you place them on a greased cookie sheet. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with grated cheese and a little garlic salt. Let rise 5 minutes. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned.
